Moving questions, answered plainly.

No vague answers. If something depends on your home, we say so — and tell you what to send us so we can give you a real number.

Questions

The basics

What does a residential move cost?

Price depends on the size of your home, how many crew members and trucks are needed, the distance between addresses and how much packing you want us to handle. We look at all of it up front, give you a written estimate before move day, and work from that number instead of adding line items later.

Do you move offices or commercial spaces?

No — Tri State Moving is a residential moving company only. Every crew, truck and schedule we run is built around households: houses, townhomes, apartments, condos and long-distance home relocations. If you need a business relocated, we are not the right fit.

How far in advance should I book my move?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most local moves. End-of-month weekends, summer and the first week of any month fill up fastest, so if your date is fixed, reach out as soon as you have it. Short-notice moves are sometimes possible — call and ask.

Do you provide a written estimate?

Yes. You get the crew size, truck, timing and price in writing before move day. If something about your home changes — a garage full of stored furniture, a piano, an extra flight of stairs — tell us early so the estimate stays accurate.

Are my belongings protected during the move?

Every piece of furniture is blanket-wrapped and stretch-wrapped before it leaves your home, and floors, stair rails and door frames are protected before anything moves. We carry insurance and can send a certificate of insurance to your building or property manager when they ask for one.

Do you pack, or should I?

Either works. Many customers pack the easy rooms and hand us the kitchen, closets and fragile items. If you'd rather not pack at all, we bring boxes, paper, tape and labels and pack the whole home. Unpacking and box removal are available at the other end.

Can you move a piano, safe or especially heavy piece?

Yes. Pianos, safes, sectionals and oversized case goods are part of the job. Send us a photo with your quote request so we can bring the right crew size and equipment rather than discovering it on move day.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, DC — 86 communities in all, from Hagerstown, Frederick, Martinsburg, Winchester and Chambersburg out to smaller towns across the region. Every location has its own page with local details.
